Compact entry (default): type QDD.MMSS. For example, 132.1948 means N 32°19′48″ E. Quadrants: 1 = NE, 2 = SE, 3 = SW, 4 = NW.
Use two digits for degrees, minutes and seconds. For example, 105.0309 means N 5°03′09″ E. Missing trailing digits are treated as zeros: 132.19 means N 32°19′00″ E. This is survey notation, not decimal degrees.
Separate DMS fields: choose N or S, enter degrees, minutes and seconds, then choose E or W. Enter zero when minutes or seconds are zero. Switching formats preserves complete valid bearings.
Backsight and foresight must both point outward from the same occupied point. Reverse an incoming boundary bearing before using it as the backsight.
Angle right: clockwise from backsight to foresight.
Angle left: counterclockwise from backsight to foresight.
Smaller angle: the smaller of these rotations, from 0° to 180°. For identical directions, both rotations show 0°.
